The Role of the Coach

The standard for all coaches working with Squadify

Whether you are a SquadifyPro Coach or an Internal Coach, the Squadify coaching role goes beyond facilitation. A coach is responsible for ensuring that team insight is translated into business impact through a disciplined cycle of diagnosis, alignment, action, and follow-through.

The following capabilities and responsibilities define the standard for all coaches working with Squadify reports.

1. End-to-End Cycle Ownership

The coach is accountable for ensuring the full Squadify cycle runs with discipline, pace, and impact. This includes engaging with Team Leaders, managing cadence, driving participation and completion, leading Team Leader and team debriefs, and ensuring continuity between cycles.

2. Deep Business Understanding

Coaches operate at a business level, understanding strategy, brand priorities, and enterprise context. They translate team insights into implications for delivery, decision-making, and cross-functional performance.

3. Insight Generation & Interpretation

The coach interprets Squadify reports and uses SquadBot to enhance insight, identifying patterns across data and behaviours and generating concise, actionable insights for the team.

4. High-Impact Facilitation & Coaching

Coaches provide senior coaching to Team Leaders through challenge and feedback, and facilitate high-quality team sessions that encourage open, constructive dialogue and alignment.

5. Turning Insight into Focused Action

The coach supports teams to identify key priorities (typically 1–3 gaps), translates insights into practical actions, and ensures actions are SMART, owned, and time-bound using the Action Planner.

6. Embedding Execution & Accountability

Between cycles, the coach maintains momentum by following up on actions, supporting the removal of blockers, reinforcing accountability, and closing the action cycle effectively.

7. Driving Adoption of AI & Self-Sufficiency

Coaches embed SquadBot as a self-service coaching capability, enabling teams to interpret data, generate insights, and maintain momentum independently over time.

8. Governance, Quality & Compliance

The coach ensures consistent application of the Squadify methodology, high-quality delivery, confidentiality, and adherence to standards throughout the programme.

What coaching is not

Squadify coaching is not about judging or evaluating teams, interpreting individual responses (these are never visible), using data for performance management, or "fixing" teams. The value lies in sense-making, facilitation, and coaching — not in the data itself.

Two types of Squadify coach

Squadify engagements are supported by two types of coach, often working alongside each other:

SquadifyPro Coach — An experienced external coach provided by Squadify. SquadifyPro Coaches typically support senior or high-visibility teams, lead initial engagements, and help build internal coaching capability. They are a core part of the Power Bundle and Cohort deployment models.

Internal Coach — A coach within the client organisation who is trained and certified to support teams using Squadify. Internal Coaches provide cost-effective, long-term coverage and help embed a shared language of teamwork across the organisation.

Most enterprise deployments use both — SquadifyPro Coaches to establish exemplars and build momentum, with Internal Coaches providing sustained support at scale.
